Olympic-Related Intellectual Property Rights transferred to IOC

According to the related regulation of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), licensed products of 2008 Beijing Olympic Games will be stopped selling from April 1. If one wants to continue to sell the licensed products, an application must be submitted to China Olympic Committee and International Olympic Committee for approval. 
 
The Beijing Olympic Organizing Committee said, from April 1 on, the authorization of Beijing Olympic Organizing Committee will be transferred to China Olympic Committee. Therefore, if one wants to continue to sell the Olympic licensed products, an application must be submitted to China Olympic Committee and accepted the assessment by the International Olympic Committee. 
 
Jiang Xiaoyu, executive vice president of the Beijing Organizing Committee, said that from April 1 on, one or two Olympic licensed products store will be kept, and the licensed products will continue to sell in special sites. 
 
According to incomplete statistic, from November 2005, there are 12 categories and more than 8,000 varieties of Olympic products sold in over 6,000 franchise stores in the country.
